Dream Along was created as a supportive educational resource to help children and caregivers begin conversations about surgery and anesthesia.

The story uses imagination, gentle language, and familiar experiences to make an unfamiliar medical journey feel more approachable. It is intended to complement the individualized preparation and education already provided by Child Life Specialists, nurses, physicians, anesthesiologists, and perioperative teams.

Educational opportunities may include:

• Read-aloud sessions for children and families

• Preoperative education programs

• Staff or Child Life resource demonstrations

• Family-facing presentations

• Discussions about pediatric perioperative anxiety

• Physician or healthcare professional speaking engagements

Dr. Simon Kim is also available for selected educational presentations related to pediatric surgical preparation, family-centered care, storytelling in healthcare, and the patient experience.
